Today, Betty has really improved and is back to her old self. Our plans are to fly home tomorrow. We have felt all your prayers during our "overtime" stay in Miami. We can't wait to be home. Dennis received a call from Colombia this afternoon...it was Chachi and Patricia checking up on Betty. We feel like they really love us!
By the way, please be praying for Betty's hospital roommate, Karen. She shared with us about her struggle with lupus. Her husband is partially paralyzed from a stroke and is unable to be with her in the hospital. Please remember Karen and Pablo in your prayers.
Well, Dennis and I have gotten about 4 hours of sleep in the last 40 hours, so it's time to say goodnight.

Some of us are Home

Please be praying for Betty as she is recovering in a Miami hospital. She Got sick the last couple of days and it got worse on our flight from Bogota to Miami. Dennis and Jeff took her straight to the hospital from the plane. She is doing better today and if that continues they should fly home on Friday. I know Betty wishes this would have never happened, but always know God can work in all situation. I pray Betty will feel better and that she will see God work through it. The rest of us finished our trip home safely we thank you for your prayers on our trip and we ask for your continued prayers for the People of Enjambre.
God Bless,
Shane

Heading Home

We are now in Bogota with a long layover so it seems like a good time to express my gratitude to the people that God sent on this trip.
I am so proud to be a part of this group because I feel as though we represented God in the best way people can, by using what God has given us.
DENNIS I am very thankful for the heart that you have for this mission and the leadership you show so gracefully, and also the lighthearted approach to people that makes them feel comfortable no matter the circumstance.
STEVE thank you for the willingness to do whatever is needed in any circumstance and the way noone ever feels left out because of your ability to see the need that needs to be met.
JEFF the jack of all trades working, VBS, interpreting, and so much more I don't know how we would have accomplished every thing we did without you there your kind spirit shows through in all you do.
ANDREA you do a wonderful job being happy in front of the children and your knowledge of the culture is very helpful thank you for all you did.
ADRIANA you did a wonderful job although in a quiet behind the scenes kind of way your smile and joy show though the work you did with the children and on the building. it was a joy to work with you.
KARIE SUE thank you for the sensitive spirit you brought and the hard work that you gave in a culture where manual labor is for men to do, you stepped in and and worked along side of us. Yet you were still able to fall in love with your surroundings
BETTY you bring something to a trip that noone else can and it is personality in action the way people respond to you is amazing. They are drawn to the lady with a Texas drawl. thank you for bringing it on this trip, and for all the hard work you did.
Once again I am so grateful to be a part of this work that God is doing.
God Bless,
Shane

Goodbyes
At our Goodbye supper with the Foundation ladies and their husbands we were all presented with shirts like the Foundation ladies all wear. It was a wonderful evening and we will miss all of them.
Chachi (president of the foundation) with her husband.
Sad faces in our last talk with the kids at Enjembre, it was a very sad time to say goodbye to the kids that we have come to love.
Erika, Lina, and Melissa are not showing any smiles today, they are sad we are leaving and keep asking when we are coming back again. I love these girls very much and look forward to coming next year to see them again and share the love of Jesus.
Adrianna picking up trash with the kids. Our project today was talking to them about keeping the streets clean and not to litter. Then we walked the main street where our building is and picked up trash.
Please pray for our travel home. We leave Monteria wednesday morning at 10:30 and then have a 6 hour layover in Bogota before arriving in Miami at around 11:30 pm. The group has chosen to not stay in a motel in Miami, and to just sleep in the airport. We took the money we saved from doing this to help buy tools for the men that are constructing the building. So we will be very tired from the trip. We are due in Wichita at around 1:45 pm on thursday. I am sure we will blog some more during the trip. Thank you and good night. Dennis
Last Day in Enjambre
for our last time with the kids there were over 100 kids thereand we were in the new building with a roof on, praise the Lord
Well we are done with our work here. I thank God for the opportunity for us to help them and more than that the opportunity to share God with them. It is my hope that that we represented God in a way that will touch thier lives for a long time to come. If I didn't show Gods love to them I feel I wasted my trip. Our relationship with God needs to be the most cherished possession we have. It was a good day not much work got done but alot of good byes, alot of playing with kids, alot of candy, and alot of kids writing on us. Much of this trip felt rushed because of so much to do, and the goodbyes today were rushed also which was sad to me. We have had a wonderful trip and are thankful to all of you for your prayers.
God Bless,
Shane

Late monday night
It is Monday evening about 10 pm. We just got back from a formal dinner at Ruby's house. Well we didnt realize that it was formal, so the americans were a little under dressed. We had a wonderful meal and wonderful fellowship with the ladies of the foundation and a few of their husbands. Following the meals we tried our luck with a little Salsa dancing, when they asked if i wanted to salsa, I thought they had finally brought me something hot to eat (note to self, never volunteer for something till you are sure what it exactly is you are volunteering for). Anyways the lack of dancing skills from the americans gave the ladies plenty of laughs. It was really fun to just relax and to laugh and have a good time, I know that God planned this for us and it was good to enjoy some of their culture. Tomorrow is our last day at Enjambre, I am sure we will shed a few tears, but it sure has been a good trip and we cant wait to share it with everyone.

Clothes Day
We gave out clothes today, well really the ladies handed out clothes today. They cans just give things away or people would just take anything because it was free. So they charge them a small amount so they only get clothes that fit them, it was great to see them excited about that. They gave out some of the clothes today and they will hand out some tomorrow. Thanks to all who donated clothes they were very apriciated. We also worked on the building shoveling dirt, shoveling rock, raising the roof, and still chiseling cement. It was also a good VBS. I think most of us felt good after our day off and that helps alot. I am excited about coming home, but see so much need down here. Tomorrow should be fun but sad saying goodbye to the kids. be praying that God will work through us in our last day in Enjambre.
God Bless
